01 Our story

Stone, glass and the channel, since the 1950s

Overlooking the Pine River Channel, the Weathervane has welcomed generations of locals and visitors since the 1950s.

The building was designed by famed local builder Earl Young, and its historic stonework and distinctive architecture still frame the view: the channel, the drawbridge and the boats that pass along it.

Inside, the main dining room is anchored by a striking stone fireplace crafted from glacial boulders. There is casual seating at the bar, and in the warmer months the deck opens for open air dining and an easy evening of watching the boats go by.

Boats pass along the Pine River Channel through dinner, and when a sailboat needs the room, the drawbridge lifts and the whole deck turns to watch.

There is a ton of waterfront seating, so you don't have to worry about missing out... Tartar sauce remoulade is amazing on the white fish dinner!

The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and had that perfect Northern Michigan charm.

Sat out on the balcony overlooking the water and draw bridge. Great time watching all the boats go by.
